I Love Meet and Greet Becomes First UK Airport Parking Operator to Join Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
I Love Meet and Greet has announced it has become the first ever UK airport parking operator to join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower , reinforcing its commitment to making travel more accessible and inclusive for all customers.
Originally launched at Gatwick Airport in 2016, the Sunflower provides a discreet way for individuals with non-visible conditions to signal that they may require additional support, time or understanding during their journey.
By joining the scheme, I Love Meet and Greet is taking proactive steps to ensure its meet and greet service better supports passengers with non-visible disabilities—enhancing the overall airport experience from the very first interaction.
Sarah Anglim, Founder and Managing Director of I Love Meet and Greet, said:
“The customer is at the heart of everything we do at I Love Meet and Greet, and joining the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower is a natural extension of that commitment. By training our drivers to better recognise and support customers with hidden disabilities, we are making our service even more accessible and inclusive, which fits perfectly with our ethos.
It’s particularly special that both organisations started at Gatwick Airport with the same ambition—to make travel a better experience for all travellers—so it’s fantastic to now be working together.”
Enhanced training for drivers
As part of the initiative, all I Love Meet and Greet drivers are required to complete dedicated training designed to build awareness and understanding of non-visible disabilities. This includes recognising the Sunflower symbol and adapting their approach to provide a more supportive, patient and personalised service.
The training empowers drivers to:
Identify when a customer may need additional time or assistance
Communicate more clearly and effectively
Adapt handover and collection processes to reduce stress or confusion
Provide reassurance in what can often be a busy and overwhelming airport environment
Recognising non-visible disabilities and adjusting the service accordingly plays a crucial role in improving the meet and greet experience—ensuring customers feel understood, respected and supported from arrival to departure.
A shared origin and purpose
The membership also reflects a shared heritage and purpose, with both I Love Meet and Greet and the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower having roots at Gatwick Airport and a common goal of improving travel for all passengers.
Ruth Rabét, Global Business Director of Hidden Disabilities Sunflower, said: “Ensuring an accessible end-to-end journey is the Sunflower’s objective, and we are delighted that I Love Meet and Greet is contributing to this goal by becoming a member of the global Sunflower network. As the Sunflower began at Gatwick Airport in 2016 and has been instrumental in supporting millions of passengers with non-visible disabilities ever since, this announcement today provides further confidence for Sunflower wearers that they will be met with understanding and kindness as soon as their adventure begins and ends.”
Driving inclusive travel forward
With millions of people in the UK living with non-visible disabilities, initiatives like the Sunflower scheme are increasingly important in helping organisations create environments that are more understanding and accommodating.
By embedding this awareness into its frontline service, I Love Meet and Greet continues to lead the way in customer-focused airport parking—ensuring that every journey begins and ends with confidence, comfort and care.
